Home cleaning tips for lazy people

A cleaning guide for those who don’t have the luxury of a personal cleaner

We all like a clean house but we don’t all like putting in the effort to get one and could do with a few shortcuts to make the process less demanding.

For those who don’t have the luxury of a personal cleaner, we’ve put together some helpful cleaning tips to maintain a tidy home.

1. Keep your cleaning products in the relevant room.

Instead of having one cupboard dedicated to all of your cleaning supplies, change tactic and put them in the room they are designed for so they are ready and waiting for when you need them. For those who find it hard to get motivated to clean, we’re less likely to go and fetch everything needed to clean the bathroom if it means doing a lap of house to get them.

2, Value storage space

Decluttering your home is an easy way to maintain a tidy house. Want your home to look neat? Move everything off the coffee table, organise your bookcase and clear your countertops and put everything into drawers. Removing that ‘stuff’ will go a long way.

3. Adopt the ‘tidy as you go method’

Instead of letting everything build up until you’re faced with an entire house that needs cleaning, start putting things back where you got them from. Just eaten some food? Wash up straight away. Just brushed your teeth? Give the sink a wipe down. By spreading out the cleaning you won’t feel like you’re cleaning at all.

4. Lint roll your fabrics

For those who love to clean, vacuuming a sofa or mattress is a typical thing to do when cleaning the house. Don’t fancy vacuuming the sofa? Save yourself time and effort and give them a once over with a lint roller to pick up stubborn pet hair or crumbs.

5. Let your fluffy socks clean the floors

They may be a less than impressive Christmas gift, but fluffy socks are great for picking up dust on laminate flooring. Go against what you’re mother told you when you were younger; stop picking up your feet and slide across the floor. Just make sure you give them a good wash when you’re done!

6. Save on post-cooking clean-ups with liners

Whether it’s from an overflowing pie, oil from a pizza or you’re not a great cook, investing in an oven liner means you won’t have to scrub the bottom of your oven when you’ve made a mess.

7. Prevention is less effort than the cure

To avoid getting the vacuum out on a regular basis, prevent dirt from being spread around your home and leave your shoes by the door. If your guest doesn’t wish to remove their shoes, then hand them that vacuum.

8. Let the robot do the hard work

Better still, sit back, relax and watch the robot do the vacuuming for you. Once you’ve got it set up, the robot vacuum cleaner will do that hard work for you, even when you’re not at home.
